Mission completed! May to June, 2024 Collaborative Online International Learning for students at Adachi Ward Okimoto Elementary School in Tokyo, JAPAN and Princeton Community Japanese Language School in NJ, USA.
We had a wonderful Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) between students at a public Japanese elementary school and those at an American Japanese language school in NJ, USA. Many students in Japan said, “I was excited!” and they looked very happy. It was wonderful authentic intercultural learning.

We will be carrying out COIL between students at Adachi Ward Okimoto Elementary School in Japan and Japanese as a Foreign and Heritage Language Division, Princeton Community Japanese School. While online exchanges have become popular at the university level, they are still on the way for elementary school students. This will be our first COIL for young children, and we are very much looking forward to it.
