Global Leader Interview Part 2 Global Leadership, Dr. Richard Mayer, University of California, SantaBarbara, USA, author of Multimedia Learning

Dr. Richard E. Mayer, a world-renowned expert in multimedia learning, kindly joined me once again for an interview. I had the privilege of interviewing him in person in 2024, and this time we met online to discuss Part 2: Global Leadership.

One of the things I truly appreciate about Dr. Mayer is the way he explains his ideas so clearly and concisely. He also creates such a warm and welcoming atmosphere that I always feel comfotable talking with him.

One point that particularly impressed me was his comment:

“One thing graduate school often doesn’t teach you is how to collaborate. Yet learning to collaborate globally is extremely important.”

Thogh he has an outstanding research laboratory, Dr. Mayer mentioned that collaboration allows him to examine whether findings from his laboratory can also be replicated in real educational settings and whether similar results can be obtained with students beyond the University of California. He also emphasized that international collaboration brings valuable perspectives from researchers with different backgrounds and ways of thinking.

Listening to Dr. Mayer reminded me once again of power of global collaboration.
