It was truly an unforgettable experience to speak with Dr. Merrill. Through our conversation, I was able to see not only his remarkable achievements as a scholar, but also his kindness and sincerity as a person.

In Part 2, we asked him about his perspective on global leadership. He explained that true leadership begins with respect to other culture. Rather than judging others for their differences, we should approach them with curiosity and a willingness to learn. As he advises, we should “listen more than we talk.” He believes that every individual has something valuable to teach us, and that leadership grows out of this attitude of listening.
