Dr. Shimizu loves Anne of Green Gables. In our interview, she shared a piece of advice inspired by Anne: when we face two choices and cannot clearly see the future, we should choose the one that seems to bring us closer to our dreams.

After graduating from junior and senior high school in Japan, she went on to study at a university in the United States. She later earned her Ph.D. in the U.S. and successfully obtained a full-time position at an American university.

Through our conversation, I could feel her curiosity about the world and her passion for life—qualities that reminded me much of Anne.
